hahaha

okie, this is a spoiler, so if you plan on playing the game, or are playing the game but are not very far into it, DO NOT WATCH!!

cannot say i did not warn you. =)

in fact, instead of embedding the video i will just link to it in the hidden text.

legion's idle animation - doing 'the robot'
hehe

there were some seriously funny things in the game. send a couple of probes into uranus and listen to edi*. =) were some emotional parts as well. i cannot recommend this game enough - play it and the first one, too.

nostrileffect2

*- listening to edi throughout the game, i was pretty certain i knew who voiced 'her', so i paid close attention to the credits after finishing the game and was pleasantly surprised to find out i was correct - speaking of: i still need to look up the actor's name who played colonel tye [not sure how to spell that, actually] in bsg, but i am almost positive he voiced 'captain brady' or whatever that c-sec officer's name is on the citadel.

another possible spoiler follows...

okie, just for fun: this is a song from mass effect 2 - tali's theme, i suppose. i really liked the soundtrack to the game. the music in the first game was super good, too. =)

hehe, getting that 'prisoner 403' was either pure luck or the FSM has a really funny sense of humour - for a bunch of pasta and meatballs, that is. i have played that same level a couple of times and each time that prisoner has had a different number - likely random. =)

also, i noticed quarians have 'duck feet' [see pic]

that's just my opinion though, no need to go spreadin' it around.

even though it looks like she is sleeping, this was from one of miranda's idle animations - the neck stretch/head roll one every character seems to do.

is funnier to think of her falling asleep on her feet, though, so that is what i think when i look at this pic. =)

**huge, major, SERIOUS SPOILERS in hidden text**

there are a couple of things that are bugging me about the endgame...

**seriously - GAME RUINING SPOILERS follow: only read if you have completed the game**

**last chance**

the first time i played/finished the game, i imported a character from me1 - the pics from my above posts are that character.

in that playthrough i did not pursue a 'paramour' quest - i have this nagging feeling doing so will have major, likely negative consequences with the original paramour from me1. there was some flirting that went on - mostly with yeoman chambers, but flirting with her is kind of like flirting with an eggplant. =\

i upgraded everything and every crew member was loyal before going into the omega 4 relay. getting the reaper iff and legion's loyalty quest were the last things i did before going through the relay.

in the collector base, after meeting up with the other team, lilith, a colonist, was liquefied before we rescued the captured crew - she was the one you see talking to ashley or kaiden on horizon. none of the secondary normandy crew died, and all survived their escape - escorted by jacob - to the normandy while the rest of us pushed on.

all main crew members survived the suicide mission, and i blew up the base.

i just finished a second playthrough where things turned out much different:

this time i had a male shepard who romanced tali - i figured it was safe because there was not a 'paramour' picture on the desk in the captain's quarters. even though the male shepard is creepy, tali was so earnest and sweet and comes across as so genuine. =)

for some reason i went and got the reaper iff before completing zaeed's and samara's loyalty quests, but i did get them done before entering the relay with all crew members loyal, all upgrades done, etc.

this time, it was kelly [yeoman chambers] who we watched get turned into paste, and at least half the secondary normandy crew were 'pasted' as well, including gabby the engineer and rupert the chef guy.

it was so sad to hear ken, gabby's 'partner in crime', nearly break down when saying he could not believe she was dead. =(

the male crew member who was always in the crew quarters talking with the female crew member about his family died as well - i went in after the mission and the woman was sitting in there all alone. she said how her friend never got to hug his daughter and how she would make sure the daughter knew her father died a hero.

= (

all the primary team lived and once again i told the illusive man to get bent and blew up the base. i am sure he is going to be very angry with me in me3. =(

i am wondering if completing the 'paramour' quest is the deciding factor for who gets liquefied in the collector base; if it is based on which missions you have completed before getting the iff/legion and then legion's loyalty [the dr. said something that makes me think this might have been the 'trigger']; if it depends on shepard's gender; if it is dependent on any of the myriad factors that transfer over from an imported me1 shepard; or if who lives or dies depends on something i have not considered.

it was awful though, to have all those crew members die. the ship seems so empty without them - there is only one operator guy in the stations between the galaxy map and joker, for example. =(

both times i was fully paragon - i feel horrible when i am mean to people =( - i have tried to play as renegade but i literally get physically sick when i try. way too sensitive, as c0w has often told me. =(

anyway: was wondering how the endgame turned out for everyone else. who lived; who died; what was your morality; who, if anyone, was your paramour, etc.

needless to say, my original playthrough will be the one i import into me3.

okie, i have done some poking around and i am pretty sure i know how and why my second endgame was so different from the first play-through.

it should go without saying...

***HUGE SPOILERS IN HIDDEN TEXT***

from my above post musing about the factors and 'triggers'...

i wrote:

i figured having everyone loyal was a necessity, but it sounds like that might not be the case. if and when i do another play-through i am certain i will do all the loyalty missions again. some were actually really fun even if it seems like 'filler' at times - though not as much as probing planets does. =\

this thread in the bioware fourms seems to explain a couple of the factors deciding who lives or gets turned into paste.

bioware person in that thread wrote:
Dusty Everman wrote...

Mordin's death is not a glitch or bug. I believe that when people are surprised with Mordin's death, it's during the "Hold the Line" time where you leave crew behind as you and two squad mates move onward. Tech had their moment in the sun with the tunnel infiltration. A biotic is key for the protective bubble. The Hold the Line sequence is time for your soldier types to do their best.

Basically you want your best DEFENDERS to hold the line. Don't think about offensive solo strikers. Think about the guys that can dig down and hold a position with moxie. You want them to hold the line.

Under the hood, each character has a "hole the line" score, which gets a bonus if the character is loyal. Characters like Mordin, Jack and Tali are squishy and not exoeruenced with bunkering down and holding out for an extended period of time. Characters like Grunt and Zaeed are tanks who thrive on this type of work. The score is tallied for all the team members that are holding the line, and the number of survivors are calculated. If people are to die, the non-loyals squishies go first through the list to the loyal tanks. Alas, I think Mordin is at the head of the death list. Some characters can't survive without help even if they are loyal. Others can survive even if not loyal.

Here are some examples for the group holding the line:
Loyal Mordin by himself: He can't hold the line by himself. He dies.
Non-loyal Grunt by himself: Grunt lives. He hunkers down and gets the job done, and doesn't have to worry about helping any one else.
Loyal Mordin and non-Loyal Grunt: Grunt dies, but Mordin lives. Grunt is able to hold the line but goofs up helping Mordin... he was just too aggressive without his right of passage.
Loyal Mordin and Loyal Grunt: They both live.

Note it is possible to get non-loyal henchmen to survive through the end game with the proper group holding the line.

So what is a good strategy? Send back a loyal squishy with the crew, like Mordin or Tali. Leave your defensive bad asses to hold the line (hmmm, Garrus defended a base all by himself to an extended period of time....) and take your loyal offensive favorites with you to the end.

As for saving Kelly and the crew, you just need to make sure you go through the Omega-4 relay right after the crew is taken, and make sure you send a loyal squad mate back as an escort.

in my second play-through, after rescuing the doctor and anyone else who was not turned into elmers, she berated me for taking too long to come to their rescue. =(

she immediately apologised and said that she was just upset at seeing half the crew liquefied right in front of her, but that nagged at me afterward and was what i was referring to in my last post. seems that is/was the issue: for everyone of the secondary crew to live you must not put off going through the omega 4 relay to rescue them.

therefore, you should get every available quest and upgrades taken care of before doing the iff mission. you then have only legion's quest to complete before needing to go through the omega 4 relay.

either way: lilith gets dissolved. =(

also, someone posted that after getting legion do not click on the galaxy map before activating/talking to legion and getting his loyalty quest. the 'trigger' for the start of the endgame seems to be that 'click' on the galaxy map after getting the iff.

that is how i did it on my first play-through, which was pure luck on my part - i had purposely not gone to any sites/read anything that would 'spoil' anything about the game. i avoided, as much as possible, reading any press releases about me2 and did not watch any of the character reveal videos. it was impossible to completely avoid all of it, of course, but for the most part i succeeded, i think.

since there have been no replies to this thread regarding the endgame, i assume either no one is/has read this endgame discussion - given the 'deadness' of the forums lately this is not a stretch =( , no one has any interest in the game [your loss =( ], no one else has finished the game [unlikely], or no one who has finished the game cares to comment.

hehe, whatever the case: the game is excellent and if any of you can find time to play it and/or the first game i doubt you would be disappointed. =)

ah ha!

okie, this video has some of the big-name voice actors in it discussing the game and their roles.

not sure why they did not include claudia black though.

ME2 is a great game. I have gone through it with a Renegade Vanguard ManShep and a Paragon Infiltrator FemShep. Hale does Paragon lines superbly and Meer does a great job with Renegade so it's the best way to experience both voice actors.

I really don't like their little timesinks... planet scanning, hacking/bypassing. I think those could go away completely. There is enough meat to the story so that time wasters like those are unnecessary and just become tedious after your first playthrough.

Otherwise the game is fairly strong though I wish the plot was moved forward more in ME2. Mass Effect 1 had an epic feel to it that ME2 didn't quite reach, even though general gameplay mechanics are improved in ME2. I really like the ability to customize the armor design and color scheme, you really ended up only uses Predator and Colossus armors in the first game.

For my Endgame everyone survives, both playthroughs and I tell TIM to take a hike and bomb the base.

i like the vanguard class/choice. i tried to play as a soldier - thought it might be fun to be able to shoot an assault rifle without having three-quarters+ of the screen as the 'inaccuracy zone'. it was mostly fun in me, but i quit playing that character a few levels after importing into me2. =(

and is funny: i grumped a bit about the mako in me and how tedious it was a times, but i would take driving around looking for metals/mummified salerians/etc., any day over probing/scanning planets for resources. i felt like scanning was added as play-time padding and every time i had to do it, it would break me out of my suspension of disbelief. =(

but i do feel for the designers. damned if they do an damned if they don't. =(

and while i am on that subject: i like the 'action over micromanagement' experience of me and me2, but i do miss some of the inventory choices from me that were completely thrown out for me2. i played both games on x360 mostly [i have both games for pc as well], and even though inventory menus in me were that games 'runner up to planet probing' because of how much time you spent trying to convert excess weaponry/ammo to omni-gel, at least the inventory gave you the impression you actually had to plan for enemy encounters.

i know all that sounds like i did not like me2, but i really did. if they can figure out a balance between me and me2 for me3 it is going to be an awesome game. =)

oh, who am i kidding? it will be awesome whatever they do, unless they 'invisible war' it. =)

noscafé vas normandy

p.s.- i *still* feel guilty about how my second me2 play through ended up crew-wise. =(

haha!

mordin is super funny! i also liked his gilbert and sullivan(?) solo singing. =)

i found his 'loyalty mission' to be an interesting 'investigation' of ethics - i will not spoil it for those who have not played the game, but it is a fascinating way to 'humanise' some very 'inhumane' actions.

even though i know better i am hoping it will not be too long until they release me3. there is something about the 'mass effect' universe i find enchanting/engaging and look forward to spending more time there teaching bad guys 'what for'. =)

that's just my opinion though, no need to go spreadin' it around.
